Strategic

Southend-on-Sea City council

As part of a large Innovate UK project convened by Emergent, which also included Barking and Dagenham Council and housing provider Places for People, we worked with Southend to understand the role that microgrids could play in delivering their strategic decarbonisation goals, including on a flagship new build development.

Feasibility

Flanshaw

Stonewater Housing is a large independent social housing provider who wanted to understand the potential for microgrids to reduce the costs of installing heat pumps on their new build estates. We assessed the potential for a microgrid incorporating solar PV and battery storage, in addition to heat pumps, across their planned Flanshaw development of c250 homes.

Feasibility

Victoria Road

We worked with Brighton Council, an existing client of Emergent’s, to explore the potential to combine a decentralised heat pump solution with on-site solar supply, via a microgrid, on their planned new build development, Victoria Road.

Feasibility

Padiham

Places for People, one of the UK’s largest independent social housing providers, was planning to install measures that would significantly improve energy performance across their Padiham estate. The organisation was interested in the potential for a microgrid to deliver a return on the scheme’s capital costs, and commissioned an assessment from Emergent.
